Family: Neritidae
Origin: Indonesia & Southeast Asia (mangroves, estuaries, and freshwater rivers)
Size: ~2–2.5 cm (0.75–1 inch)
Temperament: Completely peaceful
Difficulty: Very easy
Rarity: Less common than standard Zebra/Tiger Nerites

Identification

Neritina juttingae is a small, neutral colour snail covered in small spikes, giving a similar look to the classic King Koopa Snail.

Colour and pattern vary by population.

  • Great for nano tanks and large planted tanks alike

Water Parameters

These snails require hard, alkaline water to maintain shell health.

  • Temperature: 22–28°C (72–82°F)
  • pH: 7.0–8.5
  • Hardness: Medium–hard (KH & GH important)

They can tolerate freshwater long‑term, but naturally inhabit brackish‑to‑fresh transitions.

Environment

  • Planted aquariums

  • Tight lid — excellent climbers

Diet

A true algae‑grazing snail.
They eat:

  • Green algae
  • Diatoms
  • Biofilm
