I believe the easyflow collars give the best airlift flow of any air driven sponge filters. The main disadvantage is the collars clog up quickly after the honeymoon stage of a brand new out of the box filter stage performance has past ,which is usually around a month. The sponge as it traps debris and detritus begins to form bio film which is the foundation for beneficial bacteria to grow and the filter starts to attain maximum efficiency. This efficiency starts to drop as the filter sponge starts to clog up too much but the collar air holes clog up much ,much faster which severely chokes the airflow output. So I saw this for sale on the website and for the small money it costs, I bought a spare just in case a future cleaning won’t work.I currently pop off the top of the riser stem and while the air is still running I scrub the inside of the collar with a toothbrush, when i do my partial water changes every ten days or so.

These do work good. But they do eventually expire and stop working. My couple year old ones didn’t work. So buy a size that you know you’ll use up.
