This is my first time building a tank with soil and so far I'm very impressed. It is an easy way to keep new plants happy and it looks great in the tank. There is definitely a settling stage as you don't wash it but overall I'm super happy and wish I had used this in all my tanks.

I was doing a cycle and didn't purchase ammonia becaues I was using Tropica aqua soil which was supposed to cause spikes on its own. This didn't happen in my tank for some reason so I bought some fishless fuel. This helped me get the cycle moving along.
