• Fine gravel or sand substrate 

Feeding

Although often purchased as algae eaters, they are omnivores and should receive a varied diet:

• Algae wafers
• Quality sinking pellets
• Vegetable-based foods
• Frozen foods such as bloodworms and brine shrimp
• Small live foods 

Compatibility

They are usually good community fish and can be kept with:

• Danios
• Devarios
• Small barbs
• Other peaceful fish that appreciate moving, oxygen-rich water. 

For aquarium hobbyists, the Spotted Garra is often considered one of the more interesting algae-grazing fish because it combines useful cleanup behavior with an active, personable temperament.
