Description

Parosphromenus ornaticauda, commonly known as the Ornate Licorice Gourami, is a small and colorful species of gourami native to Southeast Asia, specifically found in the peat swamp forests and blackwater streams of Borneo.

Parosphromenus ornaticauda:

Size: They are quite small, with males reaching up to 1.8 cm in length
Habitat: They thrive in peat swamp forests with very soft, acidic water (pH as low as 3.0 to 4.0) and low light conditions due to dense canopy cover
Water Parameters: They prefer water temperatures between 20°C and 25°C
Diet: They are micro-predators, feeding on small invertebrates and microorganisms
Behavior: Males are known for their striking coloration and elaborate courtship displays. They can be territorial, especially during breeding
