- Lentipes mekonggaensis inhabits swift, clear high-gradient streams with a rocky and boulder-strewn bottom.
- Its type locality is the Mekongga mountain in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Physical Characteristics:
- Males in their nuptial phase exhibit striking features:
- Bright red faces matched by red body coloring from the end of the second dorsal fin to the beginning of the tail fin.
- Few tricuspid teeth in the upper jaw.
- Ctenoid scales on the anterior body region.
- The base of the first dorsal fin does not reach the base of the second dorsal fin origin.
- Specifci Body colour, bright red head, a red band on the caudal penduncle and organe dorsal fins.
- Males in their nuptial phase exhibit striking features:
