Ellisae Cory Cat (Corydoras ellisae) also known as the two-point cory is a charming, armored catfish that adds a touch of elegance to freshwater aquariums. Let’s dive into some interesting details about this delightful fish:

  1. Appearance:

    • The Ellisae Cory Cat reaches a maximum size of about 2 inches (5 cm) when fully mature.
    • Its body is silvery, with shimmery yellow coloration on the rear half of the underbody, fins, and face.
    • Females are larger and fuller-bodied than males, with rounded fins.

  2. Habitat and Behavior:

    • These catfish prefer well-planted aquariums with plenty of hiding spots to provide relief from light.
    • As bottom-dwelling scavengers, they require a smooth sand or gravel substrate to protect their sensitive barbels.
    • Ellisae Cory Cats are social and should be kept in groups of six or more.
    • Females lay eggs in groups of 2 to 4, attaching them to plants or other surfaces after fertilization. They repeat this process until about 100 eggs are fertilized and attached.

  3. Diet:

    • These omnivorous catfish thrive on a balanced diet.
    • Feed them quality flake food, pellets, and frozen or thawed bloodworms, brine shrimp, and Mysis shrimp that fit into their small mouths.
