Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri)

Description

The Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri) is a freshwater fish known for its ability to help keep aquariums clean by eating algae. 

Appearance: They have a long, slender body with a pale brown or golden color and a distinctive dark stripe running along their sides. Size: They can grow up to 10-11 inches in length, although they are often smaller in-home aquariums.

Lifespan: With proper care, they can live up to 10 years.

Behavior: These fish are generally solitary and can become territorial as they age. They are bottom-dwellers and spend most of their time scavenging for food.

Tank Requirements: A minimum tank size of 45 gallons is recommended, but a larger tank  is better to accommodate their size and activity level.

Diet: While they primarily eat algae, they also enjoy a variety of foods including vegetables, flakes, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms.
