Description

Margitae Tetra (Hyphessobrycon margitae), also known as the Bleeding Blue Tetra or Red-Blue Peru Tetra, is a striking South American tetra prized for its iridescent blue body stripe and bright red fins. It originates from the Río Nanay drainage in Peru and grows to about 4-5 cm (1.5-2 inches)

Aquarium Care

  • Tank size: 20 gallons+ recommended
  • Temperature: 24-28°C (75-82°F)
  • pH: 6.0-7.2
  • Temperament: Peaceful
  • Schooling: Keep 8+ specimens for best behavior and coloration
  • Diet: Omnivore; accepts flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and live foods 

Compatibility

Excellent with:

  • Corydoras
  • Small peaceful rasboras
  • Pencilfish
  • Dwarf cichlids
  • Other peaceful tetras

Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.
