Threadfin Rainbowfish (Iriatherina werneri), also known as the Featherfin Rainbowfish, is a stunning and delicate species popular among aquarium enthusiasts

Appearance

  • Size: Typically grows to about 1.2 – 1.6 inches (3 – 4 cm).
  • Coloration: Males display vibrant colors and elongated fins, while females are more subdued.

Habitat

  • Distribution: Native to tropical Australia and Papua New Guinea.
  • Environment: Prefers slow-moving streams, freshwater swamps, lagoons, and billabongs with clear water and abundant vegetation.

Aquarium Care

  • Tank Size: Minimum of 15 gallons (60 liters).
  • Water Conditions:
    • Temperature: 75 – 82°F (24 – 28°C).
    • pH: 6.0 – 7.0.
    • Hardness: 7 – 19 dGH.
