Description

The Blue Sparkle Medaka Ricefish  is a very rare and cool-colored natural variant of the Japanese Ricefish species (Oryzias latipes). These adaptable fish are hardy and can thrive in various water salinities, from freshwater to fully marine water. 

  • Coloration: Males typically exhibit brighter blue coloration than females.
  • Behavior: They occupy the middle and top levels of the water column and are safe with other peaceful, small fish.
  • Tankmates: Compatible with dwarf shrimp and larger, peaceful invertebrates.
  • Schooling: Must be kept in schools of 6 or more for optimal behavior and coloration.
  • Diet: Thrive on a varied diet of omnivorous foods, including high-quality flake food, pellets, and live/frozen options.
  • Breeding: Easy to breed in the aquarium.
  • Habitat: Requires clean, well-maintained water and does well in planted aquariums with dark substrate and floating plants.

Remember to provide plenty of cover and a secure lid (they can jump!).
