- Snowball shrimps are small and elongated, with a translucent white body. Some individuals may feature a slight blue tint.
- Their eggs are also pure white and resemble tiny snowballs.

Taxonomy:
- There has been some confusion regarding the taxonomy of Snowball shrimp. Initially, they were thought to be selectively bred variants of Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis.
- However, taxonomists later reclassified them as Neocaridina palmata var.
