L104 Clown Pleco (Panaqolus Maccus)

Description

Temperature: 74-83

Minimum Tank Size: 20 Gallons

L104 (Clown) are a great community pleco for aquariums as small as 20-gallons. They are one of the smallest species, maxing out at a tiny 3.5" long. They have a lovely creat colour with darker patterns across their body, thicker on their back and tail, and thinner on their head. They are great community fish, but they can be territorial with other plecos. Ensure they have driftwood to rasp on (this species, in particular, requires it) and places to hide during the day.

Plecostamus in general:

Pleco, or plecostamus, is an armoured suckermouth catfish. There are over 150 varieties! These are generally a larger fish, with the smallest ones growing to 3.5″, and the largest ones reaching over 24″ long! These are also a fish with a high bio-load, so be cautious when adding them to your tank. Pleco’s come in such a wide variety of colours and patterns and they are one of the favourite varieties of fish. They do clean up some algae, but they aren’t as fastidious as some other suckermouth fish, like otocinclus catfish.

Be sure to check the adult size of your pleco variety, as they grow quickly! Most varieties enjoy rasping on driftwood and hiding during the day. Please read the list below to learn more. Each has slightly different care.
