Corydoras Brevirostris CW027 (Wotroi)

Description

Corydoras brevirostris, also known as the Wotro's corydoras, is a species of catfish belonging to the Corydoradinae subfamily. Here are some specifics about this fish:

1. Temperature: They prefer temperatures between 72°F to 79°F (22°C to 26°C).

2. Minimum Tank Size: To keep Corydoras brevirostris comfortably, a tank of at least 20 gallons or more is recommended. However, larger tanks are always better for these active bottom-dwelling fish.

Feeding Habits: Corydoras brevirostris are omnivores and will accept a variety of foods. They enjoy a diet consisting of high-quality sinking pellets or wafers, live or frozen food like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and also appreciate occasional vegetable matter like blanched zucchinis or cucumbers.

Habitat Preference: These fish are native to the upper Orinoco River basin in Venezuela and prefer well-oxygenated waters. They are commonly found in slow-moving or still waters, often in areas with leaf litter and overhanging vegetation.

Water pH Level: They prefer slightly acidic to neutral water conditions with a pH range between 6.0 to 7.5.

Behavior: Corydoras brevirostris are peaceful, social fish. They are known to be active and spend most of their time at the bottom of the tank. They enjoy sifting through the substrate in search of food.

Schooling: They are schooling fish and prefer to be kept in groups of at least 6 individuals. Keeping them in a group helps reduce stress and encourages their natural behaviors.

Bottom Dweller: They are classic bottom-dwelling fish, frequently scavenging the substrate for food.

Color and Other Details: Corydoras brevirostris usually have a yellowish or gold body coloration with black patches or spots running across their bodies. These patterns can vary, giving them an attractive appearance. They have an interesting short snout compared to some other Corydoras species.

When setting up a tank for Corydoras brevirostris, ensure a soft sandy substrate, some hiding spots like plants or driftwood, and maintain good water quality. They are a delightful addition to a community aquarium, provided that tank mates are peaceful and not aggressive towards bottom-dwellers.
