Description

Moenkhausia pittieri, commonly known as the Diamond Tetra, is a beautiful freshwater fish native to Venezuela, particularly found in and around Lake Valencia.

 These tetras are named for their shimmering, iridescent scales that sparkle like diamonds, especially under good lighting.

Key Characteristics:


Size:They typically grow to about 2.4 inches (6 cm) 
Water Conditions: They thrive in water temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C) and a pH range of 5.5 to 7.5
Diet: Diamond Tetras are omnivores and will eat a variety of foods, including flakes, granules, and small live or frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.
Behavior: They are peaceful and do well in community tanks with other non-aggressive fish.

Habitat:In their natural habitat, Diamond Tetras are found in shallow, vegetated waters. They prefer environments with plenty of plants and subdued lighting In an aquarium, they look best in a well-planted tank with a soft substrate and some driftwood or roots to mimic their natural surroundings.

Care Tips: Tank Size: A small group of Diamond Tetras can be kept in a tank of at least 15 gallons, but a larger tank is preferable to give them more space to swim
Water Quality: Regular water changes and good filtration are important to maintain water quality and keep these fish healthy
