Origin:
Native to northern Myanmar, particularly the upper Irrawaddy River basin.

Size:
Up to 5 cm (2 inches)

Lifespan:
3–5 years with proper care

Temperament:
Peaceful and active; ideal for community tanks

Tank Requirements:

• Minimum tank size: 20 gallons
• Temperature: 20–26°C (68–79°F)
• pH: 6.5–7.5
• Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water
• Aquascape: Open swimming space with some plants and driftwood; moderate flow mimics natural habitat

Diet:
Omnivorous – accepts flakes, micro pellets, frozen/live foods like brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.

Behavior:

• Shoaling species – best kept in groups of 6 or more
• Very active swimmers; enjoy mid-to-upper tank levels
• Can be slightly boisterous, so pair with similarly active tank mates

Breeding:

• Egg scatterers; breeding possible in species-only tanks
• Use spawning mops or fine-leaved plants
• Adults should be removed post-spawning to protect eggs
