Dwarf Spotted Danio (Brachydanio Nigrofasciata) Wild Aquarium Glaser

Description

Dwarf Spotted Danio (Brachydanio nigrofasciata, also known as Danio nigrofasciatus) is a captivating freshwater fish native to northern Myanmar. Let’s dive into some interesting details about this little aquatic gem:

  1. Distribution: The Dwarf Spotted Danio is endemic to Myanmar. Although some reports suggest its range extends into the north, it appears to be restricted to central parts of the country. You can find it in the divisions of Yangon, Bago, and Mon State. It inhabits streams, minor rivers, still bodies of water.

  2. Appearance: These tiny fish grow to a maximum length of 30 to 40 mm (approximately 1.2 to 1.6 inches). Their body is adorned with striking dark spots, giving them their distinctive appearance. Imagine a school of these little beauties swimming together! 🐟

  3. Habitat: The Dwarf Spotted Danio thrives in well-planted aquariums or setups that resemble flowing rivers or streams. A substrate of variably sized rocks and gravel, along with some large water-worn boulders, suits them well. They look particularly effective against a darker substrate and lush green plants.

  4. Social Behavior: These Danios are peaceful community fish. Keeping them in groups of 5 or 6+ alongside other small, peaceful species is recommended. They enjoy flake food, granules, frozen treats, and live food. Just imagine their little fins fluttering happily in your aquarium! 🌿🐠
