Ludwigia inclinata is a stunning and fast-growing stem plant native to Central and South America, prized in aquascaping for its vibrant coloration and dynamic growth. 

General Characteristics

  • Family: Onagraceae
  • Height: 15–20 inches (up to 40 cm depending on variety)
  • Growth Rate: Fast
  • Placement: Best used as a background plant
  • Leaf Shape: Oblong, often wavy, arranged in whorls or opposite pairs
  • Coloration: Ranges from green to vivid red, orange, yellow, and even pink or white depending on variety and lighting

Care Requirements

  • Lighting: Bright to high-intensity light is essential for vibrant coloration. Dim lighting leads to pale green growth and leaf drop
  • CO₂ Injection: Highly recommended. Enhances growth rate, coloration, and overall health. Without CO₂, growth slows and colors fade
  • Water Parameters:
    • Temperature: 64–78°F (18–26°C)
    • pH: 6.0–7.5 (slightly acidic to neutral)
    • Hardness: 4–18°dGH
