Taxiphyllum alternans 'Taiwan Moss' is one of the most popular mosses in the aquarium trade,clean look, easy growth.


Key Characteristics

  • Scientific name: Taxiphyllum alternans
  • Common name: Taiwan Moss
  • Origin: Southeast Asia (Taiwan region)
  • Growth type: Creeping/branching moss
  • Growth rate: Moderate (faster than Java moss in ideal conditions)
  • Color: Bright to medium green
  • Texture: Fine, soft, triangular fronds (more structured than Java moss)

 Looks like a cleaner, more organized version of Java Moss,great for premium aquascapes.


Growth Behavior

  • Forms dense, layered mats
  • Branches grow in a slightly upward triangular pattern
  • Attaches easily to:
    • Driftwood
    • Rocks
    • Mesh pads

Compared to Java Moss:

  • Less messy
  • More visually appealing
  • Preferred for high-end aquascaping layouts
