Description

The Hamburg Highfin Helleri Swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii “Hamburg Highfin”) is a striking and rare variant of the common swordtail. 

Appearance: This variant is known for its high dorsal fin (Simpson fin) and distinctive coloration. The body is typically black with a green or blue sheen, complemented by bright red fins and a red throat region.
Origin: The Hamburg Highfin was first bred in Germany and has a unique history involving crossbreeding with other swordtail variants.
Size: They can grow up to 4-5 inches (10-12 cm) in length.
Tank Requirements: They thrive in well-planted aquariums with moderate water flow. Ideal water conditions include a temperature range of 71°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C) and a pH of 7.0 to 8.02.
Diet: Omnivorous, they will accept a variety of foods including high-quality flake foods, pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms.
Behavior: Peaceful and suitable for community tanks, they do well with other non-aggressive species.

These fish are relatively easy to care for and make a stunning addition to any aquarium.
