Anubias barteri var. nana is a compact, hardy variant of the Anubias barteri species, prized in aquascaping for its durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic appeal.

  • Common Names: Anubias Nana, Dwarf Anubias, Petite Anubias
  • Origin: Riverbanks of Cameroon and West Africa 
  • Family: Araceae

Size & Appearance

  • Height: 5–15 cm (2–6 inches) 
  • Leaf Shape: Thick, oval to rounded, leathery texture
  • Color: Deep green with a glossy, almost plastic-like sheen
  • Growth Rate: Very slow; new leaves every few weeks

Care Requirements

  • Lighting: Low to moderate; subdued light preferred to prevent algae
  • Temperature: 72–82°F (22–28°C)
  • pH Range: 6.0–7.5 (tolerates up to 8.9)
