Carnival Vampire Crab, scientifically known as Geosesarma dennerle, is a fascinating and colorful semi-terrestrial species native to Java, Indonesia. These crabs are known for their vibrant appearance and unique behaviors, making them a popular choice for paludariums, which are enclosures that provide both aquatic and terrestrial areas.

Here are some key points about the Carnival Vampire Crab:

Habitat: They thrive in environments that mimic their natural habitat, which includes forest areas near streams, rivers, and ponds. They spend most of their time on land but also submerge in freshwater, especially during molting.
Behavior: Generally peaceful with their own species, they can be aggressive towards other types of crabs. They are skilled climbers, so their enclosures need to be secure to prevent escapes.
Diet: These crabs are omnivorous scavengers, feeding on filamentous algae, detritus, high-quality dry foods rich in plant matter, fresh and dried vegetables, insects, worms, and other invertebrates12.
Care Requirements: They require a temperature range of 75°F to 82°F (24°C to 28°C), a pH of 7.5 to 8.0, and high humidity levels (75% or more).
