They are fully aquatic and should never be out of water for longer than necessary. Despite being fully aquatic, they don't have gills, but lungs! They come to the surface for air very regularly. Gentle amphibians, they can thrive in small aquariums and prefer shallow tanks, 12" and shallower. They often jump, so lids are a must! If you're lucky, you'll hear the males singing.
