Species Profile

  • Common Name: Dwarf Borneo Bumblebee Catfish
  • Family: Bagridae
  • Origin: Borneo (freshwater streams and rivers)
  • Adult Size: ~6–8 cm (dwarf compared to other bumblebee catfish)
  • Current Size: Often sold at 3–4 cm

Tank Requirements

  • Tank Size: Minimum 20 gallons for a small group
  • Water Parameters:
    • Temperature: 22–26°C (72–79°F)
    • pH: 6.0–7.5
    • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard
  • Aquascape: Provide hiding spots (driftwood, caves, PVC pipes) and subdued lighting; prefers sandy or fine substrate

Behavior & Compatibility

  • Temperament: Peaceful but shy; nocturnal
  • Tankmates: Compatible with small, calm species; avoid aggressive or very active fish
