The Ruby Nose Hi Fin Platy is a striking selectively bred livebearer featuring a brilliant ruby-red face, clean body coloration, and an elegant high dorsal fin. Hardy, social, and ideal for community tanks. Great for beginners and families, but also appreciated by advanced keepers for their coloration and active behavior.

Diet
Omnivore; very easy to feed.
Offer a variety of:
- High-quality flakes/pellets
- Spirulina-based foods
- Frozen brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms
- Blanched veggies (zucchini, spinach)
Enhance reds with carotenoid-based foods (e.g., krill flake).
Temperament & Tankmates
Very peaceful and active. Ideal tankmates:
- Guppies
- Mollies
- Swordtails
- Corydoras
- Tetras (non-nippy)
- Rasboras
- Dwarf gouramis
- Shrimp and snails (generally compatible)
Avoid:
- Tiger barbs
- Bettas with strong fin-nipping tendencies
- Larger aggressive cichlids
Breeding
One of the easiest livebearers to breed.
- Gestation: 4–6 weeks
- Litter size: 20–40 fry
- Parents may eat fry
- Provide:
- Floating plants (water lettuce, hornwort)
- Guppy grass
- Breeder boxes if raising intentionally
Females can store sperm for months.
