Yellow Banana Platy (Xiphophorus variatus) 3.5cm

Description

Yellow Banana Platy is a variant of the Xiphophorus variatus, also known as the Variatus Platy or Variable Platyfish.

Appearance: They have a striking yellow coloration, often with a high dorsal fin. The body can also show some black markings, adding to their visual appeal.
Size: They typically grow up to about 7 cm (2.8 inches) in length.
Habitat: These fish are native to the southern Tamaulipas and northern Veracruz states in northeastern Mexico. They thrive in freshwater environments, particularly in slow-moving rivers and densely vegetated areas⁴(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_platyfish).
Diet: They are omnivores, enjoying a varied diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and daphnia.
Behavior: Yellow Banana Platies are peaceful and social, making them great for community tanks. They exhibit schooling behavior and are best kept in groups with a ratio of at least two females per male to maintain social harmony.

These fish are also livebearers, meaning they give birth to live young rather than laying eggs, which can be fascinating to observe.
