Species Overview

  • Scientific Name: Brotia herculea (Gould, 1846)
  • Common Names: White Hercules Snail, Giant Tower Cap Snail
  • Family: Pachychilidae
  • Origin: Rivers in Myanmar and Thailand

Size & Lifespan

  • Adult Size: Up to 10 cm (3.9 inches)
  • Lifespan: Several years with proper care

Water Parameters

Appearance

  • Thick, elongated spiral shell tapering to a point, resembling a unicorn horn
  • Shell has 6–8 whorls with fine lines and often a darker tip
  • Coloration is creamy or off-white; the “white” appearance is often enhanced by polishing

Behavior & Compatibility

  • Peaceful and slow-moving
  • Compatible with most fish and invertebrates
  • Not aggressive but not plant-safe if underfed
  • Not effective algae eaters; may nibble on plants if hungry
