Description
Corydoras Adolfoi (Adolfo's) CW107
- Scientific Name: Corydoras adolfoi (sometimes listed as Hoplisoma adolfoi)
- CW107: A rare, closely related Corydoras variant with spotted markings, often classified under Hoplisoma sp. CW107.
- Origin: Upper Rio Negro basin, Brazil; CW107 from Rio Vaupés, Colombia.
- Size: 5–6 cm (≈2–2.5 inches)
- Temperament: Peaceful, social bottom-dweller
- Lifespan: 5–8 years in good conditions
Appearance
- Adolfoi: Creamy body with a golden-orange head cap, black mask across eyes, and a bold black stripe along the back.
- CW107: Spotted pattern instead of solid stripes; highly collectible and rare.
Tank Requirements
-
Minimum Tank Size:
- Adolfoi: 20 gallons for a group of 6
- CW107: 15–20 gallons minimum
-
Water Parameters:
- Temp: 22–26°C (72–79°F)
- pH: 6.0–7.5 (wild Adolfoi can tolerate down to 5.5)
- Hardness: Soft to medium (4–18°dGH)
- Substrate: Fine sand (protects barbels)
- Décor: Driftwood, leaf litter, caves, and plants like Anubias or Cryptocoryne
- Filtration: Gentle flow, well-oxygenated water; sponge filters ideal
Diet
- Omnivorous:
- Sinking pellets/wafers
- Frozen/live foods (bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp)
- Occasional blanched vegetables
- They scavenge but must be fed directly—don’t rely on leftovers
Behavior
- Highly social; keep 6+ individuals for natural shoaling behavior.
- Peaceful; ideal for community tanks with small characins, rasboras, dwarf cichlids, and other gentle species. Avoid aggressive or large fish.
Breeding
- Method: Egg-layer; spawning triggered by cooler water changes and high-quality diet.
-
Setup:
- Breeding tank with fine sand, Java moss, or spawning mops
- Ratio: 1 male : 2 females
- Egg Care: Remove adults post-spawning; eggs hatch in 3–5 days.
- Tip: Wild Adolfoi prefer slightly acidic blackwater for spawning success.
CW107 Notes
- Rare and collectible; similar care to Adolfoi but slightly higher temp tolerance (77–82°F).
- Originates from Rio Vaupés; prefers soft, acidic water.
- Same peaceful nature and schooling requirement.
