Electric Blue Lyretail Sailfin Molly is a stunning livebearer fish that’s popular in freshwater aquariums for its vibrant coloration and elegant fin shape. 

Appearance

  • Color: Iridescent electric blue body with shimmering scales.
  • Fins: Lyretail shape (elongated, flowing tail) and a large sail-like dorsal fin.
  • Size: Typically 3–4 inches (7–10 cm), males often more colorful and with larger fins.

Behavior & Temperament

  • Peaceful and social, best kept in groups.
  • Active swimmers that enjoy open spaces and planted areas.

Care Requirements

  • Tank Size: Minimum 20 gallons for a small group.
  • Water Parameters:
    • Temperature: 72–82°F (22–28°C)
    • pH: 7.5–8.5 (slightly alkaline)
    • Hardness: Moderately hard to hard water.
  • Diet: Omnivorous—high-quality flakes, algae-based foods, and occasional protein (brine shrimp, bloodworms).

Special Notes

  • Livebearer species—females can give birth to fry every few weeks.
  • Prefer a bit of aquarium salt (brackish conditions) for optimal health.
  • Males can be territorial; provide hiding spots and plants.
