Description

Borneo Sucker Loach, also known as the Borneo Loach or Hong Kong Pleco, is a fascinating freshwater fish native to the fast-moving streams of Borneo in Southeast Asia.

Appearance

  • Size: They typically grow to about 1.5 to 2.5 inches (4-6 cm) in length
  • Coloration: They have varying shades of brown, grey, and olive-green with unique patterns on their bellies.

Habitat

  • Natural Environment: They thrive in cool, oxygen-rich, swift waters
  • Tank Setup: A minimum of 20 gallons (75 liters) is recommended for a school of Borneo Loaches. They prefer a substrate of sand or fine gravel, live plants, driftwood, and rocks for hiding spots.

Behavior

  • Social Nature: These loaches are peaceful and do well in groups of three or more. They are compatible with other non-aggressive fish, snails, and shrimp

Care Requirements

  • Water Conditions: Optimal temperature ranges from 65°F to 77°F (18°C to 25°C), with a pH between 6.5 and 8.0
  • Diet: They are omnivores and enjoy a diet that includes algae, biofilm, and small invertebrates
