Description

Microglanis poecilus, also known as the dwarf marbled catfish, is a small species of catfish native to South America, particularly found in the Essequibo River basin and rivers of French Guiana. This species is part of the genus Microglanis, which includes small to very small catfish, typically ranging from 2.5 to 8 cm in length.

Here are some interesting facts about Microglanis poecilus:

  • Appearance: They have dark brown markings on a light brown background, with a distinctive pale band across the nape
  • Behavior: These catfish are nocturnal and prefer to hide during the day. They are peaceful but can be quite greedy, often considering smaller fish as food
