Laetacara curviceps, commonly known as the Dwarf Flag Cichlid or Smiling Acara, is a small, peaceful cichlid native to the lower Amazon River basin in Brazil. This species was previously classified under the genus Aequidens

Dwarf Flag Cichlids grow to about 6-8 cm (2.4-3.1 inches) in length, with males typically being larger than females. They are known for their vibrant blue and red coloration, especially during breeding. These fish thrive in well-planted aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water and plenty of hiding spots.

In an aquarium setting, they prefer temperatures between 24-29°C (75-84°F) and a pH range of 5.0-7.5[1]. They are omnivorous and enjoy a varied diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp
