Crocodile Toothpick Fish (Indostomus crocodilus) (Large) Aquarium Glaser

Description

Indostomus crocodilus, also known as the Crocodile Toothpick Fish, is a small, fascinating species native to slow-moving or stagnant freshwater habitats in southern Thailand and northeastern Peninsular Malaysia These fish are typically found in blackwater streams and peat swamp forests

Crocodile Toothpick Fish grow to a maximum length of about 3 cm (1.2 inches) They have slender, armored bodies and are sexually dimorphic, with males displaying white bands along the edges of their dorsal, anal, and ventral fins

In an aquarium setting, they thrive in well-planted tanks with soft substrates and plenty of hiding spots like driftwood and leaf litter. They are micropredators, feeding on tiny aquatic crustaceans, worms, and insect larvae. It's important to provide them with small live foods, as they often refuse dried or frozen products
