Description

Corydoras aff. parallelus CW127, also known as the Super Parallelus Cory, is a rare and visually striking species of Corydoras catfish. Though not yet formally described by science, it is well-known in the aquarium hobby and has been assigned the code CW127 by Corydoras expert Ian Fuller.


Species Overview

  • Scientific Name: Corydoras sp. aff. parallelus CW127
  • Common Name: Super Parallelus Cory
  • Origin: Rio Jamanxim, a tributary of the Rio Tapajós in Brazil 
  • Size: Up to 7.5 cm (3 inches) 
  • Snout Type: Short and rounded, distinguishing it from long-snouted relatives like C. bifasciatus

Appearance

  • Markings: Two bold vertical stripes through the eye and body, and two horizontal lines under the dorsal fin extending toward the tail 
  • Coloration: Silvery base with dark, contrasting patterns
  • Sexual Dimorphism: Females are typically larger and rounder; males are slimmer

  • Temperature: 21–25°C (70–77°F)
  • pH: 6.0–7.5
  • Hardness: 2–18 dGH
