Black Neon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi) is a beautiful and hardy freshwater fish that makes a great addition to any aquarium.
Appearance
- Size: They grow up to about 1.5 inches.
- Color: They have a striking appearance with a greenish hue and two vivid stripes - one white to greenish neon stripe and a rich velvety black stripe below
Care
- Lifespan: They can live up to 5 years with proper care
- Diet: Omnivores, they eat a variety of foods including flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods
- Water Conditions: They thrive in water temperatures between 68°F-82°F, with a pH of 5.0-7.5
- Tank Size: A minimum of 10 gallons is recommended, but 20 gallons is ideal
Behavior
- Temperament: Peaceful and schooling fish, they should be kept in groups of six or more
