West African Mouth Brooder (Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi) 3-4cm Aquarium Glaser

Description

Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi, also known as West African Mouth Brooder, is a captivating species of cichlid native to the Congo Basin in Africa. These fish are known for their vibrant colors and unique breeding behavior, making them a fascinating addition to any aquarium.

West African Mouth Brooder can reach a length of up to 8.5 cm (3.3 inches). They inhabit ponds, creeks, and drainage ditches, often found around the banks or among the stems of aquatic plants. These fish are maternal mouthbrooders, meaning the female carries the eggs and young in her mouth for protection.

In an aquarium setting, they require a tank with plenty of hiding places, such as clay pot caves, roots, and pieces of driftwood. They thrive in water conditions with a temperature range of 22-25°C (72-77°F) and a pH of 6.0-8.0. It's important to provide them with a varied diet that includes high-quality cichlid pellets and regular feedings of live or frozen foods.
