Spotted Hatchetfish is a captivating freshwater species native to the Amazon River basin in South America. Known for its distinctive, hatchet-shaped body and iridescent coloration, this fish can grow up to 6.5 cm in length. Its transparent, wing-like pectoral fins often measure up to half the fish's body length, and its body is adorned with small black spots.
These fish are social creatures that thrive in groups, making them a delightful addition to community aquariums. They feed on small crustaceans, larvae, and mosquitoes, and prefer water conditions with a pH of 6-7 and temperatures between 23-28°C.
