Redeye Puffer (Carino Tetraodon irrubesco) 3-4cm

Description

Carinotetraodon irrubesco, commonly known as the Red-tailed Redeye Puffer, is a fascinating species of freshwater pufferfish native to Indonesia.

Appearance: They are known for their striking red eyes and red tails. Males typically have a greyish body with a broad, pale stripe and red fins, while females are slightly paler with a mottled appearance.
Habitat: They inhabit the lower Banyuasin river basin in South Sumatra and the Sambas river drainage in West Kalimantan, Borneo. They prefer environments with submerged riparian vegetation and murky waters.
Size: They grow to about 4.5 cm (1.77 inches) in length.
Aquarium Care: They thrive in a well-decorated tank with plenty of plants and hiding spots. A tank size of at least 54 liters (14 gallons) is recommended for a single puffer. They prefer a pH of 6.0-7.5 and a temperature range of 22-28°C (71.6-82.4°F)
Diet: Their diet should include shelled invertebrates like snails and small crustaceans to help maintain their continuously growing teeth. They also enjoy live or frozen foods such as bloodworms and Artemia.
Behavior: They are less aggressive than some other pufferfish species but can still be territorial, especially males. It's best to keep them with peaceful, schooling fish that are large enough to avoid predation
